About Us (And Lots of Pictures)

We have been married for almost 6 1/2 years. We met in Missouri and became very good friends -- Although, that didn't happen right away. We had a funny first meeting and our first impressions were not very positive. But we grew to love each other. I knew Steven's whole family before I knew him. I was 14 when I first started hanging out with his siblings, but never even talked to Steven until I was 19! (That was due to me moving away for 2 years, plus he was away from home when I moved back.) We knew each other for a little over 2 years before we got married in Nauvoo, Illinois. We then moved to Idaho where we both attended school. After Steven graduated, we packed up and moved to Utah where he got a job. Marriage has been quite the adventure. We have been blessed with time and opportunity to nurture the love that we share and to get to know each other very well. We're happy. The only thing that could make it better is to grow our family and share that love.

STEVEN:

Visiting the Hoover Dam
Steven is the second oldest of 5 boys. He was born in San Antonio, Texas (Go Spurs, Go!) and was raised in Missouri. He is half Mexican (on his mom's side) and half Italian (on his dad's side). He was a missionary in Switzerland for 2 years, where he learned to speak German. He loves sports, especially basketball. He's a trivia whiz and likes to learn new things. Steven attended BYU-Idaho and earned a degree in Business Management. He really enjoys his job and works in Salt Lake City, UT. In his free time, he likes to play video games and board games, watch movies, and research random things. Steven has a wonderful sense of humor and makes everyone laugh. He has a good heart and is always willing to help others. He is an excellent husband and a very involved, loving father.

CASSIE:

Living out her dream of seeing the TARDIS #Nerdom
Cassie is the oldest of 8 siblings. She comes from a family with a chaotic background, but it has allowed for a lot of growth and new experiences. She was born in Orange, California, moved around a lot, and calls the Midwest home. She is currently studying online with BYU-Idaho and will soon graduate with an Associate degree in General Studies. Afterward, she plans to get her Bachelor degree in Marriage and Family Studies from a local university in Utah. She loves having fun and spending time with her family. Cassie spends her weekdays with her nephew, who keeps her quite busy. She enjoys learning, watching movies, playing games with friends and family, and doing crafts. Cassie is a big nerd. She loves Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, superheroes.... If she could live anywhere, it would be inside Universal Studios in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. She is a passionate, caring person who will always give help to those in need. She wants nothing more than to be a mom, and has worked very hard all of her life to prepare herself for that role.

OSWIN:

Oswin is our sweet, 1-1/2 year old border-collie mix. She is energetic and playful. She gets very excited and pretty anxious when she meets new people, but she has a loving nature and is a loyal friend. We love her dearly.

And the winner is...

Jeff Dokos!!

Congratulations, Jeff! You are the winner of the free one-night stay at any IHG hotel in the US. We'll contact you soon with the details.

As for the shirts, we didn't reach our goal. Nobody who pledged to buy shirts will be charged because they won't be sent out. We tried! I think I'll try again with this one another time and come up with something better, anyway. ;)

Thank you to everyone who helped us raise some money for this long, challenging process. We are so grateful for your help, your thoughts and prayers, your well-wishes... We love you.

Well the home study is nearly done. We have one or two things more to do, but we're getting there, and then we'll be 100% ready to adopt when the opportunity presents itself. We'll keep you updated, and you keep us updated if you know anyone looking to place a child, or even considering it. Thanks, everyone!
